Officer, Consular and Passports Services (BB2)

The Australian High Commission is seeking a suitable person for the position of Officer, Consular and Passports Services.

Duties of position:
• Conduct passport interviews and process passport applications, including the preparation and issue of Emergency Passports, using the Australian Passport databases.
• Provide accurate and efficient notarial services.
• Provide consular services. Answer telephone and respond to e-mail enquiries on consular matters from the public (both Australian and Malaysian citizens) within 24 hours of receipt of query on a normal operational day.
• Maintain the register of Australians residing in or visiting Malaysia.
• Manage the Consular and Passport unclassified Registry, including: managing disposal schedules and archiving, updating and maintaining the filing system.
• Undertake other tasking as directed.

Selection Criteria:
• Flexibility and ability to work independently or as a member of team.
• Ability to prioritise workload on a daily basis and work under strict deadline.
• Ability to deal with people from a variety of backgrounds.
• Ability to deal with sensitive issues discreetly.
• Strong organisational and problem solving skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia, and ability to write reports.
• Computer literacy with sound computer/keyboard skills and experience with standard software applications including Microsoft Office.
• Consular work experience would be an advantage.

Conditions

Salary per month is RM3172.00 plus two months contractual bonus and other benefits.
