Senior Program Manager
Applications are sought for the position of Senior Program Manager in the Immigration Section of the Australian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur.
The successful applicant will be responsible for leading an experienced team of 13 locally engaged staff, managing a varied caseload and implementing ongoing client service initiatives. The successful applicant will also have a pivotal role in the delivery of the Humanitarian program.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate strong skills in relation to the selection criteria and must have (or be able to obtain) an Australian Government security clearance. The position is open to nationals of Australia, New Zealand, UK, Canada and the USA only.
A contract will be offered for up to 12 months, and will be subject to a probation period of 3 months; the position may be extended at the end of the initial contract for a further 12 months.
The successful applicant would be expected to commence the role by no later than early August 2008.
Duties of the Position include:
In conjunction with the Principal Migration Officer (PMO):

Managing migration, temporary entry and humanitarian programs, monitoring caseload trends and providing advice and reporting.

Managing human, financial and other resources, including coordinating and delivery of training
-
Managing client services and client-focused process improvements
-
Liaising with local officials and representatives of other agencies at all levels
The successful applicant would be able to demonstrate:

A high level of operational and systems expertise (Immigration experience preferable but not essential)

Strong financial, people and program management skills
-
The ability to provide timely and accurate assistance to the PMO
-
The ability to adapt and lead in an environment of change
-
A detailed understanding of the Australian Government’s immigration policies desirable
-
A strong client service focus
-
Experience in the delivery of refugee and humanitarian programs desirable
The salary for the position is between RM8500 – RM9500 per month, based on the experience of the successful candidate.
The High Commission’s conditions of services package for locally engaged staff covers a wide range of employment related matters including service payments.
The successful applicant will be responsible for all costs relating to relocation, accommodation, taxation and living in Malaysia. The High Commission will provide assistance in obtaining a work visa.
