60 Years – Australia in Malaysia
Logo Design Competition Rules

 

 

1. The competition
- Competition participants will submit logo designs to represent the 60th anniversary of Australia in Malaysia in 2015. The winning design may be selected to become the official logo for cultural and other events the Australian High Commission in Malaysia arranges to celebrate the anniversary.
- The competition opens on 1 November and closes on 30 November 2014.
- The logo should be based around and include the tagline “60 Years - Australia in Malaysia” or “Australia – 60 Years in Malaysia”.
- The logo should aim to convey these key messages: Australia has had an official presence in Malaysia for 60 years. Australia and Malaysia have a long partnership marked by a deep friendship and strong cooperation across many areas. The relationship continues to grow and has a bright future.
- The logo should incorporate identifiable national symbols, for example the Federal Star for Malaysia and the Southern Cross for Australia.

2. Eligibility
This contest is open to anyone on an individual basis. Contestants can submit multiple entries.

3. Judging
Winning entries will be determined by the Australian High Commission in Malaysia.

4. Prizes
- The designer of the winning logo will receive two return airfares to Australia from Kuala Lumpur, courtesy of Malaysia Airlines, the "Preferred Airline Partner" for this competition.
- The most “liked” logo on the Australia in Malaysia Facebook page will receive an iPad. In the event the winning logo is also the most “liked” logo on Facebook, the iPad prize will be given to the second most “liked” logo.
- Short-listed designs will each receive an Australian souvenir.
- The prizes for winners are obtained through sponsorship.

5. Announcement and awarding of prizes
The winning designs will be announced on the Australia in Malaysia Facebook page on Wednesday, 10 December 2014. The winners will be notified by phone or email before the announcement.

6. When to submit
The competition will be open from 1 November 2014. Entries can be submitted at any time until midnight on 30 November 2014.

7. How to submit
Entries must be submitted to [email protected]. We will confirm receipt of your logo by email within two days of receiving it.

8. Requirements for entries
- Entry is an image of the JPG type, presented on A4 paper with dimensions of 297mm (width) x 210mm (height), equivalent to 3500pixel x 2400pixel and total volume of no more than 2MB.
- Each entry should include three different versions, all in one page as follows:
• a colour logo with one maximum dimension of 150mm, equivalent to 1800pixel
• a smaller black and white logo with one maximum dimension of 30mm, equivalent to 360pixel
• a smaller colour logo with one maximum dimension of 30mm, equivalent to 360pixel.
- Each design should be capable of being reproduced clearly in colour and black and white, in both specified sizes. Colour designs should use no more than 5 colours.
- Entries must bear no signatures or any personal sign.
- Entrants must also specify their full name, age, email address and phone number.

9. Other Terms and Conditions
- The logo must be original and must not have received any previous awards.
- The work must be created and signed by the artist him/herself (“the designer”).
- Logo design for this competition cannot give rise to any claim for financial compensation.
- Any person submitting a logo proposal for the competition certifies that he/she is the designer of the work. The designer certifies that the logo does not infringe the rights of any third party and is not in violation of any copyright.
- By submitting the logo proposal for the competition, the designer grants the Australian High Commission in Malaysia a permanent, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty free, non-exclusive right to use, re-use, publish, re-publish the logo, in whole or in part, in any medium, now or at any time in the future for any related purpose of the Australian High Commission in Malaysia; the designer acknowledges and consents to the Australian High Commission in Malaysia, at its sole discretion, modifying, altering, copying, editing, adding to and adapting the logo; the designer releases the Australian High Commission in Malaysia from any proceeding, claim, or demand by the designer or anyone on the designer’s behalf arising from the use of the designer’s logo; and acknowledges and agrees that the designer’s logo will be stored in the Australian High Commission in Malaysia’s electronic database and may be used by the Australian High Commission in Malaysia for any related purpose of the Australian High Commission in Malaysia.
- By entering and participating, entrant agrees to hold harmless, defend and indemnify Facebook from and against any and all claims, demands, liability, damages or causes of action (however named or described), losses, costs or expenses, with respect to or arising out of or related to (i) entrant’s participation in the competition, or (ii) entrant’s participation in any Prize related activities, acceptance of a Prize and/or use or misuse of a Prize (including, without limitation, any property loss, damage, personal injury or death caused to any person(s).
