RESIDENT RETURN VISA (RRV) – CHECKLIST

Visa application charge (VAC) payable by cheque, bank draft or money order in favour of " Australian High Commission ". If paying in person at the Visa Office, payment may also be made by cash or credit card (Visa or Mastercard only).

YOU MUST MEET ONE OF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA :

Physical Residence - you have resided in Australia for at least 2 years (i.e. 730 days) in the period of 5 years immediately before making this application as an Australian permanent resident or former citizen.
Processing time : Minimum 5 working days -
Member of family unit - you are a member of a family unit of a person, who is the family head and who is the holder of a valid Resident return visa (RRV) or will be granted a RRV (whether you apply at the same time or later than the family head). The spouse, dependent children and certain dependent relatives may be members of the family unit of a person who is the family head. You will need to provide documentary evidence of claims of relationship (e.g. marriage certificate and birth certificates of children).
Processing time : Minimum 5 working days. -
Substantial ties of benefit to Australia – you have claims of substantial ties of benefit to Australia and you have not been absent from Australia for a continuous period of 5 years or more immediately before making this application, unless there are compelling reasons for the absence. Please refer to the attached supplementary information sheet explaining these substantial ties for information. The onus rests on you to demonstrate that your ties are substantial and of benefit to Australia. Processing time : minimum 2 weeks
Please note that a decision will be made on the basis of information provided at time of lodgement of application. You need to ensure that you have submitted all documentary evidence of any claims of substantial ties with Australia, including claims of relationship (eg. marriage certificate and birth certificates).
4. Re-evidencing of RRV - Processing time : minimum 5 working days
HOW TO LODGE YOUR APPLICATION
Application must be lodged at the Australian High Commission Visa office between the hours 8:30 am to 12:00noon, Monday to Friday . We also accept mailed and couriered applications.
