Applying under Other Family Migration to Australia

Thank you for your interest in migrating to Australia. Please refer to the following relevant forms which can be downloaded and printed, free of charge, from the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship website.

• Other Family Migration Booklet (including Application form 47OF and Sponsorship form 40 ) can be downloaded from http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/booklets/books4.htm.

• Character requirements (Information on procedures for obtaining police certificates). Some applicants may need to complete Form 80 – Personal particulars (4 copies) and/or Form 1101 – Australian Federal Police check. • Form 47A - Details of Child or other Dependent Family member aged 18 years or over (A form 47A must be completed for each dependant aged 18 years or over).

To ensure that you complete and lodge current versions of forms, kindly refer to our website for a current listing of forms, prior to lodgement of your application. Outdated forms will not be accepted and will be returned to you with a request to complete a valid form.

Please note : Medical forms will be issued during processing of your application to allow applicants to attend a medical examination. Applicants should ensure that they have read the information contained in the Migration Booklet thoroughly before applying or contacting our office.

Visa Application Charge

Payment is accepted in Ringgit only, and can be made by cash, bank draft or personal cheque (made payable to the Australian High Commission), or by Mastercard. Fees are subject to change. They can also be checket at our 24-hour recorded information on (603) 2146 5642. See : Types of Visas & Application charges.

The processing time may vary on a case by case basis. Processing times may be considerably longer if incomplete documentation is submitted.

Certification of Documents

Applicants should submit certified true copies of personal supporting documents. The Visa section recognises certification of documents by a Notary Public, Commissioner for Oaths or an Advocate/Solicitor.

Translations

Any documents not in English - including birth, marriage and divorce certificates - must include an English language translation. Translations can be obtained through:

Malaysian Penal Checks

Residents

• Obtain Certificate of Good Conduct

• Apply to Consular Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia, At Wisma Putra, No 1, Jalan Wisma Putra, Precinct 2, Putrajaya 62602, Malaysia

• Provide

  • 2 copies of Certificate of Good Conduct form

  • 2 passport size photos

  • 2 photocopies of Identification Card

  • 2 photocopies of passport (non-citizens must photocopy all pages)

  • signed statutory declaration attested by a Commissioner for Oaths

  • a stamped, self-addressed envelope

  •  an introduction letter from employer (non-citizens only)

• Certificate of Good Conduct forms can be obtained from above address, Malaysian diplomatic missions, or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia website:   www.kln.gov.my/files/sijilkelakuanbaikformalaysian.pdf (for Malaysians)  www.kln.gov.my/files/sijilkelakuanbaik.pdf (for non-Malaysians)

• Fee is RM20.00 in cash, or postal order payable to Akauntan Negara Malaysia

Non-residents

• Non-residents should approach the Malaysian Embassy or High Commission in their country of residence to apply for a Certificate of Good Conduct . For requests lodged without details of the individual's National Registration Identity Card (NRIC), both old and new, or a non-citizen's passport number, the checks will be unsuccessful

• Upon lodgement of your visa application, you should advise the Visa office the date on which you applied for the Certificate of Good Conduct and upon receipt of the Certificate of Good Conduct, kindly submit the original copy to the Visa office.

Counter hours for lodgement of applications are between 0830am-1200noon, Monday to Friday .
