CHECKLIST FOR DOMESTIC WORKERS (IN MALAYSIA) ACCOMPANYING THEIR EMPLOYERS FOR A SHORT VISIT


Processing time for applications lodged at the Australian High Commission, Kuala Lumpur :

Please note that except in exceptional circumstances, a decision will be made on the basis of information provided at time of application lodgement so please ensure that you submit a complete application. PLEASE TICK AND ATTACH THIS CHECKLIST WITH YOUR APPLICATION.

TO BE SUBMITTED AT TIME OF APPLICATION

 Form 48R completed, signed and dated. This form can be printed from our website: www.immi.gov.au.

 Visa application charge (VAC) payable by cheque, bank draft or money order in favour of "Australian High Commission". If paying in person at the Visa Office, payment may also be made by cash or credit card (Visa or Mastercard only). Please note that the visa application charge is not refundable for refused applications.

Passport (if unable to submit, must submit certified copies of every stamped page of your passport certified by a Commissioner for Oaths or a Notary Public)

EVIDENCE TO ACCOMPANY APPLICATION

 Signed employer’s undertaking to cover all costs associated with the trip and also stating purpose of trip, names of accompanying family members and intended duties of the maid. see Attachment 1.

 A copy of passport (biodata page) of all immediate family members of the employer inclusive of the employer and an indication of whether they are travelling to Australia on this occasion or not.

 Domestic worker’s current and previous passports containing Malaysian work permit(s);

 Confirmed travel itinerary for the maid and all persons travelling with the maid. Please note that the travel itinerary of the maid must be identical to the travel itinerary of the employer and/or his family. However, we strongly recommend that you DO NOT purchase air tickets until the visa has been granted.

Consideration may be given to the grant of one single entry visa  for one maid per family, for a period of stay of 4 weeks only.   

Visas will not be granted to the maids of Australian citizens and Australian permanent resident visa holders who are returning to reside in Australia as they are expected to access services available in Australia.

HOW TO LODGE YOUR APPLICATION
Applications should be lodged at least 2 weeks prior to the intended date of departure, to the Australian High Commission Visa office between the hours 8:30 am to 12:00 noon, Monday to Friday. We also accept mailed and couriered applications. Applications are processed according to the above processing times.
